Frank,I agree that it's highly unlikely Benteen instigated a move to leave the wounded.I just enjoy stirring things up!(I was also the one who suggested Custer commited suicide.It keeps me occupied!)However,I DO feel that sometimes an early biographer has made a statement which later authors simply quote without doing their own research.For example,it is now regarded as fact that nobody was ever going to criticise Custer while Libbie was alive.WHY?Benteen,among others hated her as much as they did her husband.Something happened out there in Montana that the Army didn't want to reveal....it was nothing to do with respect for Libbie.Or am I just stirring things up again?
