Oh, but that was tough. I watched The Smurfs on up into my 20's (La laaa la la la la) - EVERY Saturday morning (usually came on late enough that college days hangovers didn't interfere ). STILL, I can't resist when I hear the theme song starting on The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Jonny Quest! Gotta watch! Yabba Dabba Dooooooo! Wiiiiiiilmaaaaaaaaaa!

Right after The Smurfs, Pee Wee Herman came on. HUGE fan I was! My daughter knew the theme song (Come on innnnnn, and pull yourself up a chair...) as soon as she could talk. I even got a PWH doll for my 30th birthday - YES 30TH! Mecka Lecka High, Mecka Hiney Ho!

embarrassed I admitted that....

This was really hard!!! There are so many that I loved watching, but I finally had to go with Yogi I loved watching Yogi and Boo Boo try to outsmart Mr. Ranger. Ahhhhh, those were the days.

Love,
Kay

Had to vote for Scooby Doo hands down on this one although it was tough when thinking of how much time I spent watching the Superfriends...and Jonny Quest. Anybody else on here who was terrified of the "Energy Monster" in the one Jonny Quest episode?

OH-MY-GOD, YES!!! I'd forgotten all about that creepy creature until I read this thread & it triggered a long-supressed memory of him/it! YIKES!

Yep, the infamous "Energy Monster." from the "Invisible Monster" episode. Truly one of the creepiest things I have ever seen, and the sound it made (there's an mpeg of it somewhere on the Internet) is still enough to make my hair stand on edge. You don't know how glad I was to discover, through the Web, that I was not the only one "scared s---less by the Energy Monster", as one vintage TV historian wrote it on "Jump the Shark.com." Wonder who the energy monster is?
Check this site http://www.classicjq.com/.

And thanks to Ariel, last summer I learned I'm not the only person in the world who was terrified by the "Yip Yip Martians" on Sesame Street!

[Rattlesnake Woman, screaming] God help us, that creepy monster thing-y is back! Susquesus, you truly are the Mad Hermit of the North Woods! Where in God's name did you find those images - at the creepy@energy.monsters.com website?! After seeing this picture, I'm going to have to sneak into Doc M's brandy cabinet for a dose of <ahem> medicine if I ever hope to sleep tonight.

I'm with you on this one, Christina - It's been many summers since my childhood & the days of Johnny Quest, but THIS THING STILL CREEPS ME OUT!

I seem to remember Johnny Quest & his pals somehow capturing this thing & destroying it, so obviously these are two old pictures...right, Susquesus? I mean, they DID kill that thing...[gulp] didn't they???

Well, I don't know about "destroying" it. Tricky thing, an energy monster-I saw this little rascal around my campsite last fall in the Boundary Waters. Threw him an extra thick slice of double hickory smoked bacon and he purred like a puss-e cat. Even let me take his picture before he did all of those unfortunate things to the other campers that weren't as accomodating.

CHRISTINA - Did you read this latest post from Susquesus?! From the sounds of it, that energy monster is still out there on the loose somewhere! Oh, I don't like the idea of this ONE LITTLE BIT!

My all time favorite cartoon was "Johnny Quest". The music and the
art work was great. Awesome stories too.
Ahh the energy monster episode... very cool. I remember they dumped
paint on it to be able to see it, then they lured it by lighting up
bulbs until they got it where they wanted. Then I believe they over
loaded it with lots of electricity. Blew it to pieces...

How about some trivia? Who did the voice for Johnny?

My 2nd favorite was "The Jetsons". Great show.
Do you remember Jet Screamer? "Come fly with me... up high with me"
What was Astro's real name?

No Perils of Penelope Pitstop? Although I agree, "Spirit of 76" (42nd officer being as old as me) and "Stop that pigeon" were brilliant. I had a crush on Penelope when I was 10...sighs...although Daphne from Scooby Doo ran her close. Damn those guys were good at drawing a sexy lady!
