Tired of Winter? Looking for a homeschooling Field Trip? Feeling cooped up?

Join us on Saturday, February 20th, and sunday, February 21st for our Mid-Winter Living History Weekend!

Museum volunteers, representaing both colonists and Abenaki, will take advantage of the winter conditions to showcase 18th century life within a fortified village This means fires for warmth and cooking, hand work and conversation.

Saturday, at 2:00 PM we will have a special presentation: "Why Winter Quarters," at look at the challenges of keeping troops in the field during the winter.

Please remember to bring your masks and practice social distancing while at the museum.

Also keep in mind that you will traveling over uneven ground which will include snow. Dressing in layers will help in your personal comfort. While buildins will have fires going, heat will be uneven and on the cool side.

.
My Gawd - we do have some snow this year, should be a great time. - I think/hope my Abernaki friends from Vermont & Rhode Island will be there. - Weather permitting - I'm headin' that way.

There is an event near here at Aiken, SC. It is one of the very few events that have not been cancelled or drastically modified. It is Civil War, but I go as a civilian and hang around with a friend who is a demonstrator (wood carving). It provides a winter break, and reminds me of why I don't do Civil War.

Too many dots and/or spaces in the file name extensions. For example: ... jpg as opposed to .jpg - Something else, too, but I'm not sure why, so I renamed the photos to something nice & simple both on the server and in your post. Basically, I'm a bit mystified, but they are showing now.

Thanks again Rich ... One of those pics shows a "long thin map" .... That map starts in N.Y. Harbor and runs up into Canada. - It was drawn in 1776 - even shows the water depth about 75% of the way. - It's actually a copy of of the original that's kept in Washington, D.C.
