The British soldiers in the expedition to Concord on April 18-9, 1775 were picked men. They were supposed to be the best of the Boston garrison, elite light infantry and grenadiers, as well as hat companies. But their conduct on Lexington Green and at the North Bridge suggests they were undisciplined and green. What accounts for their conduct? Were they simply green? Were they incompetently led, disorganized? Were the colonial training bands and minute companies better trained than the British Regulars? Let's here some opinions.
