This is an open mail to all the readers of the LBH threads.
Warlord, just so you cannot state that I went behind your back, I wish you to know that I have written Rich and requested that something, up to his discretion, be done to curb your juvenile antics.
While you sometimes have very fine takes on situations (witness the clear and lucid explanation of .45-55 vs. .45-70), the name-calling, slander, and borderline obscenities cannot be tolerated by me any longer. I have tried to reason with you privately and had no success. Thus, it came down to me reporting you and requesting action. Whether action occurs and you remain on the board and begin contributing to the extent that you are capable of depends upon you.
The fact that you don't like DC and Larsen has been handled by you in a particularly childish way. First, neither really pay much attention to your slanders. Secondly, I imagine DC enjoys the fact that he raises your blood pressure. Obviously you are not impacting anyone but the remainder of us who read and contribute to this board for the pure enjoyment of the hobby we share. You have the capabilities to contribute to our understanding as much as you want to. You just do not do it enough.
You have begun calling Larsen a racist. Since Larsen understands your motive, I will address it briefly. If you have read the posts in these threads long enough, you will understand that Larsen has been the most vocal advocate of including the Indian accounts into the larger LBH picture but he is not afraid to point out contradictions within their accounts. If that makes someone a racist, well, include me in the picture. Racist my asinine!
You know, when I began on this board, I envisioned learning new things, sharing ideas/concepts/theories, arguing about same, and thinking that this might be a place for a high school or college students looking for ideas about LBH or the Indian Wars to gain understanding. I still have that faith. That is why I have taken the step I have in regards to you.

I stand behind you Billy, 100%.
I have also come under attack by Warlord, and I'll never understand why. I don't think I've ever attacked anyone on this board outside the proper debate rules. Yet, Warlord has libeled me countless times.
If Warlord is correct that some people can't stand D.C. and/or Larsen posting here (I'm not one of them), and if Warlord seems to believe he has to protect posters from D.C. and Larsen, then he has defeated his purpose and become worse than the people he despises. If Warlord can't see that, he must realize that the majority of people posting here long long before he came upon the scene perceive it to be so.
I know Rich has plenty to think about with what needs to be done about Warlord and until he does, I expect Warlord to either refrain from personal attacks and name calling or stop posting all together.

I have no particular issue here, exccept that I'd like to point out that this original forum started, it looks like, in 1999 and ended in 2001, when it moved to these new digs. The entire production of that forum for three years can be held on one page, or is currently. That was all topics, not just Custer.
Custer is the only topic that generates any interest here, let's be blunt. And there wasn't much happening when I started posting here. Lorendead was offering up contests of recondite trivia. If it were me driving people away, you have to deal with that: zero vs. over 3000. Further, I don't think people do go away, they just change ID's. In any event, they reappear at random.
I'd also suggest the forum isn't just about socialization of the participants but about the people under discussion, who are owed honest appraisal. I don't like romantic claptrap, grown men playing soldier and somehow expecting honor as a soldier, or the willing surrender of thought to those who claim the shield of 'science.' And I say so. We disagree about a lot of stuff but I think it important about how we view our country and what we build on. |

I am sitting here trying to decide whether I should laugh or simply cry about WL's obtuseness.
Since laughter is the best medicine, I have decided to take it as his exercise in "pushing the envelope" of humor.
OK peanut brain, let's go over some of the more obvious lies and half-truths.

Glad you do. I have never been in the closet. Since I respect private email, until I have your permission, I will not quote from my email to you regarding your conduct or your answers. Legally, you can quote to your heart's content, ethically, well, let us just say that it follows your normal pattern of behavior.

I stand by the first statement from my private mail to you. Since you don't know me nor mine, I am positive you are reconning by fire on the second statement hoping to make a hit. WL, you are as much a marksman in argument as the 7th Cav. troopers at LBH were in battle. "Grow up"??? You have got to be kidding. Let us recap some of the more courteous WLisms:

They ran from escalated conflict rather than trying to work it out (and I might add that each coin has two sides, perhaps you might get both sides before you assign guilt/responsibility).
As far as your actions go, I tolerated them at first and tried to reason with you. As reasoning did not work, I decided to go to the next level.

Are these the "board members" that you claim to represent? I can't go into more detail as I will be divulging information from your private mail to me. Needless to say, why not post a few with the names redacted to protect the parties. Wait, your integrity in my books is too low to trust you with such a responsibility so I guess we will have to live without the statements of these "board members". And to be quite honest with you, which I have always been, someone who lurks and applauds your behavior in secret but is too chicken-**** to state their views in black and white to the board as a whole deserves no respect.

Wow, you know a lot about both Rich and I. Since I haven't heard different, I will continue to post to the board whenever I wish. If Rich wants otherwise, fine, it is his sandbox and I follow his rules. As far as you knowing my character! Lord, WL, you are such an idiot child that it makes me shudder to think you were actually in the military. As far as standing up, well, you have these two public posts as well as one or two others plus private communications, all addressed to you about your behavior. Exactly what am I not standing up to? Oh, let me guess: DC and Larsen. Well, since they both can defend themselves much better I, I will let them provide rebuttals to you.
You are really so dense that you don't get it do you? I have no problems with arguing facts or interpretations of the facts. Presentation of erroneous data, slurs, no sourcing, half-truths or personal attacks because of who they are have no place on a board devoted to history.

OK lads ... enough is enough ...
This is not about how active or inactive this place is now or may have been in the past ...
It is not about difference of opinion or heated discussion ...
No ... it is about common decency & personal dignity. Everyone here obviously has a common interest. Share in that common interest. Enjoy the company of others who are willing to engage in discussion. Face it, most of us can't bring this topic up at the dinner table, workplace, or local sports bar and seriously engage. Here one can.
Don't ruin it.
Further "conversation" along these lines will require further action. Please act in an adult manner.
