IF Davey Crockett surrenendered, and that is a pretty big if, it was because he and his men had been bypassed because of their deadly earlier resistance. He and his Tenn. boys manned the barracade by the gate- a low wall, obviously the weak point.
The Mexicans aimed one column at this point, but it was forced to veer off.
Again, IF DC surrendered, it was because the Mexicans had captured the inside of the Alamo, and he was now just outside the walls, but inside the barracade...ignored for a while. It is just possible...however unlikely, that he had time to surrender. Can you imagine DC surrendering while the Mexicans were killing the others in the barracks? AFTER they killed the men in the barracks?
Remote, very remote, for someone to do such, who had decided to stay and fight in that situation.
