Hello Marcia!

"Somehow I didn't expect you to like it a lot, though I didn't think you'd hate it...I guess I don't picture a Huron Warrior-maiden such as yourself being "into" the Victorian era so much. But then you DO like history, so that might not be true, either."

Ah, Marcia! Nothing could be farther from the truth! I love the Victorian era!!!! I'm very "into" it, as a matter of fact. That could have been the one saving grace for AOI...... but....... it flopped, I thought.

" However, I have to say the very things you dislike about Age are the things I love the most. Especially DDL's performance. I think it is his second best performance to date, actually. I would rank his acting as 1)My Left Foot 2)Age of Innocence and 3)LOM, surprisingly enough. Even though LOM is by far my favorite of his films, and Hawkeye my favorite of his roles, I still think his actual performance is stronger in the other two. It's much harder to give a quiet, understated expression of suffering than it is to portray someone so completely "overt" (for want of a better term) as the stalwart Hawkeye."

This is interesting. My Left Foot was his best, I agree. But the suffering, oppressed man, ready to explode and break free didn't come through, I thought. I do think AOI had the potential to be a sweeping, emotional, dramatic film.... unfortunately, I really did find it flat.

" And Age is far and away my favorite Scorcese film, being as how I have hated almost everything else he has directed (don't like those bloody gangster things). I also give the film absolutely top rating for visuals...it is just such a lushly photographed and detailed portrayal of the era."

I don't like Scorcese's films much either.

So thanks for agreeing to disagree. Hey! We both like My Left Foot and LOTM! Two out of three ain't bad.

As for Mr. Sappy Rich Fed; Poor business man, indeed! We are going to have that Ad Page. And to compensate for the initial lapse in time for search engines, it will be, like Mr. Sap said, a 2 for 1 thing. As soon as we have more details worked out, we'll let you know. Meanwhile, if anyone is interested in running their ad here, let us know!

A good week to you all!

Elaine
