Hmmm...never thought about it. Good question! Would it by any chance have been when Uncas dives out of the canoe, during
the chase scene? That's all I can think of , unless he lays it down in the cave, before going up on "watch." I'm trying to play it in my mind, and those are the only times that come to my mind where I can *almost* picture him taking something off. (somehow, I seem to remember Hawkeye shouldering his as he starts up the mountainside after shooting Duncan.)

I could be all wet, though!
