Pat, believe me, you're NOT the only one!!! Yes, DDL did Maddy's makeup on the last day of filming ... but, that was NOT up on Table Rock. The last marathon filming session took place in the cave set, in October, just about exactly 7 years ago. Read Soldier #1's excellent retelling in the Musings. Also, shot at this time was the favorite shot of Uncas staring at Alice as they are climbing the falls WAY back at the River Walk!
Gayle, it's hard to tell in the film, but the VERY last scene (Hawk, Cora, & Ching praying ...) is NOT the same place as where Alice & Uncas fall from the cliff. The Cliff scene is at Chimney Rock, the last scene is at Table Rock, far away in Linville Gorge.
Lastly, MMMM ... all I KNOW is that they hiked in at every other location. I guess only DDL, Madeleine Stowe, Russell Means, Michael Mann & a few crew members know for sure!
One thing's for certain ... it is a GORGEous location! Pretty dumb, I know, but I couldn't stop myself in time!
