: : : Okay, okay .... we'll do it. :)

: : As before, if anyone has particular questions they'd like to have asked, either post them here or e-mail us.

: : Dear R & E,

: : All the actors in the movie gave convincing and well thought out portrayals of their characters, everyone has always been in agreement that Studi's is the most cogent. Please ask him about his interpretation of Magua.

: : The scenes on the cliff between Magua and Alice were especially evocative, but also somewhat ambiguous. There have been some discussions as to possible interpretation of his meaning as he beckons to Alice and then reacts to her suicidal act.

: : Looking forward to seeing the interview. Thanks for doing it.

: Thank you, Victoria. Of the many, many interpretations of various scenes we'd like very much to ask about, the entire cliff sequence is the one we REALLY want to hear from Wes Studi on.

: Thanks for posting!

Elaine,

I was also very impressed by his demeanor just before the ambush and during the conversation with Montcalm in which tacit approval of the massacre was solicited and given. Somehow he projected the whole depth of his bitterness, disillusionment and obvious intention of treachery with hardly a word or gesture. Does he draw on acting technique to project such a clear image, or did he rely on his own inner feelings about the relationships between the white man and the Indians at that period in history? Also, does Wes Studi attempt (or get cornered into) depicting the Indian that fits the movie-goer's stereotype, or when he portrays an Indian character does he remain as faithful as possible to truth? In other words, did he give me the Magua I stereotypically expected to see, or did he show me an Indian who truly represented the appearance and behavior of one in Magua's circumstances?

Gayle
