"On Top Of The World," as we all know, is the name given, on the LOTM soundtrack, for the theme music that accompanies Chingachgook, Hawkeye & Cora as they stand high atop of Table Rock Mountain at film's end. Aptly named, for when one stands at that very spot, it is easy to imagine that is indeed where you are!

This past Friday, MMMMarcia, her friend Gary, and myself met for breakfast and then headed to the Top Of The World. It was an absolutely gorgeous, picture-perfect day. Or so it began. Not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. The air was fresh, & crisp, & still. As we climbed the mountain, we enjoyed the splendid fall colors painting the landscapes. As we reached the Chimneys, we could see as far as the eye could, in all directions. It couldn't have been finer! Been up there maybe 20 times. That was the BEST! As we sat to eat lunch, the wind picked up. It began to look & feel & SOUND just like the movie. Steadily, the wind increased. We finished lunch and stood at the mountain's edge. When the wind hit you head on, it literally took your breath away. Thought, a few times, it was going to take ME away! It was awesome. We had a great time. That has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth!

We continue to garner in the area of 1200 visitors every day. Weird how the more distant the movie becomes, the more visitors we get! Some time, in the next few days, our counter will hit 100,000. As I've explained before, that counter, unlike the AccessWatch stats that I quote, counts ONLY visitors to that page. At this point in time, that accounts for roughly 15% of total visitation for any given day. It used to be for every one hit on the counter there were 3-5 site-wide. That's increasing. Easily, when the counter strikes 100,000, we'll have left half a million visitors way in our wake! It boggles my mind when I think of that! THANK YOU!

A Posting Tip: If you want your post to be read by the maximum amount of people possible, post as early as you can! It would appear that most folks use the "View Today's Messages" button when looking for posts to read. The amount of people reading yesterday's posts falls off dramatically! So, if you post at 10PM, very few will ever read your post. The one exception would be Monday's visitors. I guess quite a few people use computers at work or school only, and so when returning from the weekend, the Sunday posts seem to get read quite frequently.

What's new? We finally gathered together enough field reporters & editors to assemble a new issue of The Courier! Understand, if you're not familiar with life in MohicanLand & here on the Board, it won't make a lot of sense ... and, most of all, realize it IS satire! Anyway, it's hot off the presses!

In the History Section, we assembled a pictorial of actual locations from the early colonial period, through the F&I War, and into the Revolutionary War years. It takes a while to load, due the many images, so be patient!

Since brother Ronnie's music has been so popular, we added another piece to the Gathering '99 Photo Pages ... called "Evening," it's the third part of a trilogy ... Dawn, Afternoon, Evening. We haven't used "Afternoon" yet, but I think you'll hear the recurring themes from "Dawn," which is the music on the Gathering '99 main page.

Hope you enjoy, are well, and decide to stick it out with us!

30 days to the Director's Cut release!
