: Folks, if you've been to the waterfalls on Transylvania/Henderson County lines, in NC, during the last Mohican Gathering, or even if you've just seen the movie, you know the great beauty of that stretch of river ... what we affectionately term The River Walk.

: We received this e-mail last night from one who was instrumental in gaining us access to the property. The contents are pitiful, yet hopeful. PLEASE HELP!

: "Hi,

: I enjoyed looking at your beautiful pictures of the Little River Falls on
: your website. Glad to hear that your outing at Sterling went well. I think
: that I helped one of you get in touch with Sterling management a few years
: ago.

: Well, it has been a weird ride trying to get the State to buys those 3 falls
: you mention. We lost out to a private developer - and the State has been
: complaining that Sterling didn't give them a proper chance to match the
: developer's bid. Now it looks like the developer isn't going to protect the
: property the way he promised - with 150 homes of up to 3500ft2 each. So now
: the State has stated its intention to acquire the property through eminent
: domain. Hundreds of local people have joined in a letter writing campaign
: to support the State's effort.

: Learn more about the situation at:

: If you support this effort, you can encourage your mailing list or website
: viewers to send emails to the NC Council of State as listed on the above
: website.

: Thanks, ..."

: Let's do what we can to preserve this scenic area. Success means the area is open to all to enjoy forever!

Hello All,

It is so weird that Rich has posted this today, 'cause I was busting to get to work to post about an advertisement I saw on a US Air flight back from San Francisco last night. Of course, when I got to work, our network was down, so I was REALLY chomping at the bit to post what I saw. So now it's up, so here goes! The in -flight entertainment aired an advertisement, which began with a member of the Atlanta Braves team stating that he had just purchased land in the brand new "Cliffs at Brevard Falls". Being familiar with the developer of all the "Cliffs" properties, which were all previously in the Upstate area of South Carolina, I knew *exactly* where the fellow was talking about, OUR RIVERWALK! I then looked in US Air's complimentary magazine, and sure enough there was an advertisement too! If you would like to view some breathtaking views of OUR RIVERWALK, you can go to their website at www.cliffscommunities.com and see the "before" pictures of this awesomely beautiful area, THEN be sure to click on the "Cliffs at Glassy", and take the "photo tour" there also and see what is to become of OUR RIVERWALK if this developer is allowed to proceed as he plans. Also, note the plans he has for the area (complete with the word "private" many times), which include restaurants with breathtaking views, a spa and wellness center, etc. Mr Anthony is known in the Greenville, SC area as a rags to riches story, that will stop at no price to get the area he wants and then develop it to the hilt making a mint along the way!

SO PLEASE, be sure to follow the directions Rich has put forth, and lets get our two-cents worth in while we have a chance. And the fact that we have an option, or second chance to do something about it, is what I had prayed for last night after seeing that advertisement! Viewing the Cliffs website, absolutely left me in tears!!! I plan on e-mailing all my friends not associated with this site as well, to inform them of what we can do to make sure WE ALL continue to enjoy this beautiful, "untouched" place. Ya'll (that's NC talk) do the same, OK?

Please don't put this off, there is a flashing sign on the website that states "OPENING SPRING 2000"

Diana
