As the nephew and niece watched Last of the Mohicans AGAIN (!!), Hannah piped up, "Dr. Uncle Mark, does Fort Frederick look like this Fort William Henry?"
"No", replied Dr. Uncle. "Fort Frederick is a stone fort and I don't think it's quite as large inside as Ft. Wm. Henry. But it has two barracks buildings inside and part of a catwalk which you can get up on. It is an interesting place, me little bugaboos!"
"Dr. Uncle Mark, are we going to start packing for our trip? When do we leave? What are we taking with us?", questioned Hiram.
"Hey, hold on now! You sound like one of the quiz kids," laughed Dr. Uncle. "We can start packing right now because we're going to be leaving in two weeks. Two weeks exactly and we'll be on our way to the fort where all your ancestors met to help the Patuxents protect the Maryland frontier. If you want, we can take along some 18th century clothing. You know what? I had your Aunt Linda make some clothing for you. Look at what I have here for you!"
Hiram and Hannah oooohed and ahhhhed as Dr. Uncle laid out colonial clothing freshly made by Aunt Linda. There was a little 77th regimental coat, waistcoat and Scots bonnet for Hiram. Also a wee kilt with regimental hose. For Hannah there was a chemise, skirt, shortgown, and cap.
Hannah squealed, "Oh, we can't wait to go. We'll be just like our ancestors from long ago. Dr. Uncle, can you tell us the end of the MacWilliam Chronicles? Do all the characters get to go to Fort Frederick?"
Hiram jumped up and down. "Tell us, Dr. Uncle! Tell us the end of the Chronicles!"
"OK, me little savages. Sit down here and let me tell you how all the cousins and their friends made it to Fort Frederick. Now, you remember that Cpl. MacWilliam, Davey Gunn and the 77th are at Fort Morris. Seamus, Many Flags, Three Tales, Timothy, and Sign Talker are heading south to meet with Uncle Quasi before meeting up with everyone else at Fort Loudoun where they will head out to Fort Frederick. Calsious Shattoe is still missing and Uncle Angus, well, who knows where he is!! Baaa, baaa, baaa! So, as all the characters begin to.............."
