Several days had passed since the niece and nephew had returned from their trip from Fort Frederick with their dear Dr. Uncle Mark. The niece and nephew (Hannah and Hiram) had just returned from a shopping trip with their mother and father when Dr. Uncle came to visit them.
"So, me wee lad and lassie", Dr. Uncle Mark asked, "did you tell your Mommy and Daddy all about your trip?"
Hannah and Hiram jumped into Dr. Uncle's arms. "Oh, yes, Dr. Uncle", replied Hannah, "we've just been showing them the photographs we took while we were there!"
The mother and father, who had been looking at the photos, turned to Dr. Uncle with curious looks. Father's voice quivered a bit as he asked, "Dr. Uncle, have you seen these photos? They are rather strange. Who are all these people?"
Dr. Uncle took the photos from father's hands. Mother was quite ashen faced and gathered Hiram and Hannah into her arms. "Tell me, children," she asked, "who are these people? Did you really see them, or is this some sort of trick your Dr. Uncle is trying to pull?"
Hiram piped up. "These are the people we saw at Fort Frederick. You know who they are, Mommy. They are our ancestors. We really saw all of them and we took photographs of them. Hey, lookee here. Here's the one of Uncle Angus!"
Dr. Uncle had become very quiet. "Well, me buckos. I think we all need to sit down and take a look at these photos. You see, I didn't see any of these people when we were down at the Fort. It seems as if you two little Highlanders were blessed by St. Andrew with some second sight. So, let's take a look-see at the characters from the MacWilliam Chronicles."
"Pax Aye! Pax Aye!", shouted the niece and nephew as they went through each photo, one at a time, and pointed out the different characters to the astonished adults.
