I figure we need some frivolity here. Which of the following presidential candidates for 2004 could appear on national television dressed only in a Speedo and cause the fewest number of viewers to need therapy for the rest of their lives?

Most likely, Kay. Yet again, there's some well defined bodies walking around in them as well.

Theresa,
Are you trying to tell me that if I go to Australia, then I am likely to run into an 80 year old guy with a big pot belly wearing speedos???? Hmmmmmmmm, I guess I better cross Australia off of my "places to visit."

Kay
Theresa Posted - January 17 2004 : 5:47:38 PM
Christina...they wear them in Australia, too.
Doesn't matter the age nor the physique.
Christina Posted - January 17 2004 : 1:13:42 PM
I never imagined I would stop in to check the poll this morning and find AL SHARPTON IN THE LEAD!!!
AAAGGGGGHHH!!!
But seriously, that's funny.
I hate Speedos. No man, except a swimmer in competition, looks good in them. A few years ago I was dating a guy from Denmark who was pretty cute and seemed to have a decent body -- but then he showed me some family pictures and I discovered he wore Speedos at the beach. The relationship, how shall we say it -- cooled off after that. I couldn't get the image of this otherwise decent looking guy in one of those things out of my head and it squelched all possible attraction. That's how powerful Speedo-aversion is!
A woman I used to work for called the Speedo-style suits "grape smugglers."

WW,
President Bush may look good in a flight suit, but a speedo?

Theresa,
If we had to pick from the list, then you do too.

Kay

OK, Kay.
I would vote for President Bush simply because I KNOW he works out and stays in pretty good shape. (Thanks, Christina...now everytime I see one of these men I will visualize them in a wiennie bikini ...could make for a fun(ny) election year)

Seamus Posted - January 17 2004 : 06:57:46 AM
Hahaha! Frankly, the image of any of them in a Speedo is frightening! This all reminds me of my early years as a YMCA Physical Director, and when confronted with the pompous better-than-thou crowd who frequented our Health Club and loved to intimidate 'the help', I just conjured up the image of them in the buff as they showered or lounged in the steam room and sauna. Back in those days before my beautiful body went bad on me, the comparison was quite encouraging to me! ('Wallowing whales'comes to mind.........) (snicker, snicker, snort!)

Kaylynn44 Posted - January 17 2004 : 06:29:07 AM
Seamus,
I can understand the "sympathy" vote, but now I have the image of Al Sharpton wearing a speedo in my head, and it ain't a pretty sight!!! Next guy that votes for Al gets this!!! And I'm not even a violent person!!!

Kay
Seamus Posted - January 17 2004 : 05:14:55 AM
Easy, Kay! This will be about the only thing ol' Al can win, and we don't want to make him feel unloved! He has enough problems with image. BTW, I also voted for him, Duncan, for many of the same reasons as you and Susquesus did......
Kaylynn44 Posted - January 16 2004 : 11:32:50 PM
I knew that the fellas had to be voting for Al. No woman with any eyesight at all would give him a vote!!!
Shame on y'all for putting Al in the lead.
I think that this should be a "girls only" poll!!!

Kay
susquesus Posted - January 16 2004 : 11:18:45 PM
Brother Al also has the best hair in the race.
SgtMunro Posted - January 16 2004 : 11:04:51 PM
I would have to say Rev. Sharpton. Firstly, it would make me feel better about my present physique, and secondly he is by far the most multi-dimensional of all the canidates.

Seamus Posted - January 16 2004 : 10:16:23 PM
Hmmmph! Mosley-Braun WOULD have to drop out now..................

Well now let me see...who do I want to see in a wiennie bikini...I thought Michael Douglas made a good pres in An American President...would that count?
Wilderness Woman Posted - January 16 2004 : 7:11:11 PM
Well, I can't quite force myself into imagining either Speedos or loincloths. But I thought President Bush looked durned good in that flight-jumpsuit!
Gadget Girl Posted - January 16 2004 : 6:09:51 PM
I agree Kay, I couldn't do the speedo imagery - BUT - change the word Speedo to Loincloth and it does make it a little easier to take - regardless though...I voted for Johno too.

GG
Kaylynn44 Posted - January 16 2004 : 6:05:32 PM
That was a difficult question to answer Christina, because NO guy can wear a speedo without causing alot of mental trauma!!! After you see a guy in a speedo, the image haunts you for the rest of your life, especially if his belly is hanging over it.
But, since you didn't have "None of the above" listed, I had to go with John Edwards as being the one not to make me go into therapy!!!
I want to know who the smartie was that voted for Al Sharpton!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!

Kay
Christina Posted - January 16 2004 : 1:54:35 PM
And yes, I led things off by voting for Wesley Clark. I like Wesley Clark, plus he's got that handy military background. You can't slouch in a Speedo.
