Posted - April 14 2008 : 08:03:40 AM I just saw this movie about a week ago. The acting and suspense were great, but at the end I was left going, "Huh?" My husband, who had already seen and loved the movie, couldn't believe it when I turned to him and said, "Well, it didn't really end, did it?" I thought it was a weak ending and that the story just seemed to peter out, so I added the movie to my mental list of movies for which I have no comment but "Well, I've seen that."
The more I thought about the movie, though, the more I realized I liked it---even the ending. In a way it's a fitting end that, I think, underscores the title of the movie very well. I don't want to say anymore and spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but it did take me about a week to come to the conclusion that I actually did like the ending. |

Posted - April 12 2008 : 11:26:44 PM That was the strangest TLJ flick since the last time he was in a Texas movie, "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada."
The only definitive thing about NCFOM was Javier Bardem's ghastly hair-do!!! |

Posted - April 11 2008 : 10:36:03 PM I just watched this one and I liked it. It kept my interest from start to finish but what was up with that ending...very unexpected. It definitely was quite a ride HJ but I do wish they had explained things more at the end. Kind of left one "hanging" wanting an explanation.
Having said that I don't think it should have won the Oscar for "Best Picture". Much better movies out there. |

Yes, exactly! If I go into the part that left me scratching my head it would be a big spoiler and I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but something happens to one of the main characters with no explaination at all...up until that point I liked the movie. |

Posted - January 08 2008 : 07:43:53 AM I thought it was awesome! Bleak, but awesome. An ambiguous ending, indeed -- I kept spinning it around in my head, trying to fine a positive note, to no avail. If "No Country" wins the Best Picture Oscar, fine with me. |

Posted - January 07 2008 : 1:07:14 PM I saw this movie with my son over the Thanksgiving break and I must admit we both came out of it shaking our heads as to what everyone is seeing in this movie that we weren't. I thought the acting was great, but the direction the story took, just left me saying "huh?"
I think I liked it more than my son did who thought it was absolute crap, but it's not going on my top 10 list, that's for sure! |
