Posted - June 07 2013 : 04:54:47 AM http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/us-tech-giants-nsa-data . Companies are legally obliged to comply with requests for users' communications under US law, but the PRISM program allows the intelligence services direct access to the companies' servers. The NSA document notes the operations have "assistance of communications providers in the US". . It boasts of what it calls "strong growth" in its use of the PRISM program to obtain communications. The document highlights the number of obtained communications increased in 2012 by 248% for Skype – leading the notes to remark there was "exponential growth in Skype reporting; looks like the word is getting out about our capability against Skype". There was also a 131% increase in requests for Facebook data, and 63% for Google.
The NSA document indicates that it is planning to add Dropbox as a PRISM provider. The agency also seeks, in its words, to "expand collection services from existing providers". |

Posted - June 08 2013 : 3:18:45 PM If say someone named Bush, Nixon or even Reagan had done this - the press & Dems would be screaming for impeachment. They would have run out of "hearing rooms" weeks ago. Add fast & Furious, Benghazi, the IRS & EPA and the whole thing is beyond belief. So far, only one individual has left & that was an early retirement. - It borders on the insane & has to make you wonder - what else is going on that we "probably" don't know about, - at least yet??? - This is the most deceitful, lying, unethical, underhanded administration in our countries history. BHO is by far the worst President this country has ever had, ... |

Posted - June 08 2013 : 10:22:32 AM I wrote this elsewhere regarding the Verizon thing ... before PRISM was discovered:
G.W. Bush Passed the Patriot Act in direct response to a huge terrorist attack against us. The Democrats screamed and yelled and contorted over this. Obama railed against it in his campaign [first one]. Then, in his first 2 years, with a Democrat-controlled Congress, he not only extended it, but expanded it. Then, with his stamp of approval, it became OK. So, I am somewhat on the fence, and I don't like being on the fence. It is uncomfortable. I see the benefit of well-controlled, Judge-approved, tightly reined-in surveillance in the War on Terror; I also see the myriad situations of how & where it can be abused. In light of the recent IRS & DOJ abuses, I feel safe to say that it is only a matter of time before it will be. We need to muddle through and find a balance. What I find most interesting is, Bush [right or wrong], as I said, believed in what he was doing - it was a response to something awful. Obama, on the other hand, just made his hour-long war on terror and drones speech a couple of weeks ago - his "let's get our attention off Benghazi, and DOJ, and IRS scandals, can we?" speech. In it, he basically declared the War on Terror non-existent, or over, at best. He said that it was just a series of isolated uprisings. RIGHT! But, if that is what he believes, and given his previous stance against it while Bush was in office, WHY THE EXPANSION? Clearly, he is a misleading - dare I use the word - Liar? His whole administration has been about defiant abuse of true communication with the people. He says one thing, does another. I do not trust Obama or any of his subordinates with the future of my country. That's about as far off the fence I can be. |
