Posted - June 09 2013 : 11:17:29 AM My contribution to the NSA & PRISM --- with the hope of saving you time, manpower, and ultimately, taxpayer dollars -- My Metadata:
Constitution, Roman Catholic, Tea Party, Patriot, Traditional Marriage, Liberty, Pro-Life, 2nd Amendment, Conservative, Freedom, Limited Government
Hope that helps!
=====================================
Just a more pedestrian view of this. Consider all the data they have collected as the mail in the USPS mail stream. Consider the meta data the front of the envelope. If one Postal Employee were to monitor JUST the metadata for any one person over a period of time - that is, just the info apparent from sorting, boxing or even taking the mail from a customer at the window. Having worked for the USPS for many years, I can tell you that you could learn a tremendous amount of personal information about that person: where they work, IF they work, are they in debt, are they married, getting a divorce, in bankruptcy, what religion, hobbies, when is their birthday, who is getting married, who died, sports team they root for, how many kids, medical information, do they support gay rights, gun control, the TEA Party, or any other number of social/political interests, where they live, are they well-to-do, do they vote, what political party do they support, what Church do they attend, when are they on vacation ... and on & on & on!
This is JUST from the supposedly innocuous metadata, NOT the actual contents. THAT takes a more extensive review. Now, this occurs while one is just doing their job. One can't help it. You can't stop the brain interpreting what the eyes see. Most of that info is immediately gone from memory. But, WHAT IF? What if a dubious employee decided he/she wanted to rob someone's home and violate their lives. Do you think this info - this metadata - could help them decide who might be a good target ... and when?
Draw your own conclusions about the NSA & PRISM who specialize in collection of data, not the transportation of communications. |

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden: 'I don't want to live in a society that does these sort of things' . The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell. |

Posted - June 09 2013 : 2:49:00 PM The thought of the government knowing everything about everyone, and pretty much minute to minute, - financial, medical, description, associations, phone calls, internet preferences, - name it, and you're under the freakin' microscope of a federal bureaucrat 24/7. This is NOT what this country is supposed to be all about. Privacy today is nothing more than a quaint idea, it simply does NOT exist. - I read something about 3-4 months ago, the Feds now want to start a data base that makes copies of every states drivers licenses. ... That would give the Fed a recent photo, physical description, home address of everyone in the country with a license. Essentially an "in-house" Federal national ID card. |
