The guy that owns the company my wife works for has a Tesla. Of course he is rich and views himself as a cutting edge "greenie". So he and the controller head out to a meeting in Chattanooga which is about 150 miles away. The car is supposed to go 175 miles on a charge. The plan is to spend the night in Chattanooga, recharge, and return the next day. But is seems that is 175 miles on flat ground. They got as far as the mountains in north Georgia when they had to rent a car and continue the trip, then pick the Tesla up on the way back. This means that I couldn't even drive to Charleston to see my daughter. It's 210 miles. I can get there on about 1/2 tank of gas in the car I have.
The same guy used to have a Prius, too. Turned out that mileage was great around town, but not on the highway. And since he bought it to travel to another location in Michigan, that didn't last long before he was back in his Escalade. His son has some kind of electric car and one of the managers has one of the new BMW I series cars. So far I haven't seen anything I would want. |

"Up here" you rarely see a true electric car - a total waste of money. - In the winter the nights are FAR longer than the days, not to mention the low temps & storms. - With the heater going, defroster, wipers, radio/cd, rear window defroster, lights on - you'd be damn lucky to get out of your own driveway - let alone get a mind boggling 75 miles per multi-hour charge. - Don't even think about being stuck in snow or get caught in a traffic jam. - It would be "a lights out event" in a VERY COLD car - until you got dragged back home by a gas powered, non-solar powered truck, for another multi-hour charge. - Would indeed save on gas - but the towing charges are a killer.

Like that "coal powered cruiser" - which is exactly what they are. - Fitz, - free they will not be. - Several states are now looking into a "mileage tax" - high mile-per-gallon cars and/or electric cars are cutting into state tax revenues. - That "free car" is about to get hit by a "mileage tax" ... state planners are looking at monthly payments. - Wonder if that has to show up on the price sticker??? |

Those people with electric cars seem to think that they run for free. I wonder how the cost of electricity compares with that of petroleum. |

There is a lot of foreseeable truth in this article, with the exception of one item:
"Iran still isolated. Physicists estimate at least ten more years before radioactivity decreases to safe levels."
Such an outcome, as the above prediction, would require a return to the pre-sisification era of the United States and/or United Kingdom.
As a side note to the electric car, I always like to ask the owner of one of those Marxist mini-mobiles how they enjoy their 'coal-powered cruiser'
