Okay. That makes sense! Thanks!
Wilderness Woman Posted - June 11 2007 : 08:53:43 AM
Try here.

That is the reason this site is listed when a search is done on that battle.
richfed Posted - June 09 2007 : 07:23:27 AM
The simple answer is that it is a battle of the French & Indian War [post] - the setting of LOTM.
Light of the Moon Posted - June 08 2007 : 11:22:04 PM
Can someone tell me where #75 - battle of bushy run comes into play with LOTM?

Being scalped with a dull knife is one of the most horrific things that I can imagine. Good thing this is merely a re-enactment. It DOES make for a dramatic picture (that I hadn't seen before), so thank you for posting it!
Light of the Moon Posted - May 09 2007 : 2:06:30 PM
I'm sorry, Obi. You're face was in the mud you'll have to speak louder!
Obediah Posted - May 09 2007 : 1:04:41 PM
You're just a glutton for punishment...
Light of the Moon Posted - May 09 2007 : 11:26:34 AM
Red! If you don't quit hacking into my 'puter!!!!

Yes, Irish...I have to agree. Obi's been in the pit one too many times. Can't get his mind off it. He must really like it a lot to go google it. Shall we take him back one more time?
RedFraggle Posted - May 08 2007 : 8:11:27 PM
I noticed #82 on the list was "Madeleine Stowe nude." I'm surprised there aren't at least 35 entries for "Schweig nude" or
"nude NA men." All searches, of course, performed by our own Light!
Bill R Posted - May 08 2007 : 6:52:03 PM
Geez! Couldn't he just GROUND the kid???????????

Bet the kid gets home by midnight though..............
Irishgirl Posted - May 08 2007 : 09:14:05 AM
He's just obsessed with mudpits. Aren't you Obi???? I do hear how Geezers love 'em.
Obediah Posted - May 08 2007 : 01:38:42 AM
I needed a break from studying for finals.
Light of the Moon Posted - May 07 2007 : 8:38:00 PM
You have a life and you're looking up mudpits on google?
Obediah Posted - May 07 2007 : 5:25:26 PM
Note to Light and Irish: just out of morbid curiosity, I googled the word "mudpit" and came up with over 77,800 hits!!! However, since I do have a life, I only checked the first couple of pages ... there's some weird s**t here!
Pvt. Chauncey Posted - May 07 2007 : 10:12:45 AM
I am really pleased to see so many searches forthe music bringing people here. That was a six-month project for Sarah, way back when.

I always find it amazing what bring someone to a site. I had a visitor arrive at my own website from Israel by Googling, "pictures of women in quicksand." I find that very scary, especially since I don't have anything quite like that!

I also note that you're getting the "loincloth" search results and I'm getting the breechcloth results. "loincloth" sounds so much more, er, interesting.

And I thought my dad was brutal!
Can hear it now:

"Light! I told you to stay away from those pow-wows with those NA boys! And what were you doing getting drunk and chasing chickens around a barnyard?!! You're embarassing the family name! Go find me a good sharp knife!"
Fitzhugh Williams Posted - May 02 2007 : 10:09:03 AM
It is indeed a fine picture of a "good" Anglois!

I realize this dead horse has alreay been flogged, but here goes anyway! A very common form of scalping was for the scalper to slice all the way along the front hairline, then rip the scalp back from there! I bet that smarts more than just a little as well as being really really loud to the scalpee! Also, think on this, if you have no scalp, you have nothing to hold your face up!
Wilderness Woman Posted - May 01 2007 : 3:34:46 PM
Thanks. Please see my PM to you.
Light of the Moon Posted - May 01 2007 : 2:53:41 PM
I am sorry too, WW. And do owe you an open apology.
I shouldn't have taken the following posts so seriously.
Also, I'm sorry to anyone else who may have posted regarding a surviving "scalpee".
Please pay no attention to my moment of insanity!
(I seem to have them often.)
Wilderness Woman Posted - May 01 2007 : 12:53:31 PM
Whoa, Nellie! Take it easy there! My comments were not said in any sort of anger or irritation. No nerves were struck. I was simply joining in the conversation, and thought you might appreciate the information. It was not meant to be any sort of attack on anyone.

Believe me, I am very well aware of the atrocities that were perpetuated on both sides throughout our history. I don't like it, either. But that was not the point here.

And I apologize, Rich, for taking this thread off in another direction. Didn't think that would happen. So, let's drop this now and let it get back on track.

Light, you may be interested to know that people didn't generally die from being scalped. It was usually from the other wounds that preceded the scalping.

Really? You don't say...
Geez-Louise! Have some fun and everyone wants a piece of ya'!

BTW we won't mention the injustices that rained down on BOTH SIDES of the fence. I'm sure the NA saw their fare share of brutal assaults and murders. Massacre sound familiar? Exile? Wounded Knee? Trail of Tears? Being lied to re: terms of a treaty because they couldn't read? Do you think that white men spared any women or children during their raids? Bashing in the heads of children with boot heels to save ammo...imagine watching your child die like that. Doesn't justify revenge on innocent victims but this sort of thing went two ways...not one.

Sorry if my fun struck a nerve. Didn't mean for it to do so.
