Good overview of the war. It is my favorite area of study. He omits a lot of the details but in the time limit he has, it is mandatory. But, the details are what make it interesting, at least to me. I obtained copies of some of the original documents in French and translated them myself. It was fun!

As to who fired the first shot at Jumonville's Glenn, I really don't think anyone knows. The French spot the Brits and the firing starts. It may have been that Washington had given orders not to fire until he gives the signal (a gunshot, maybe?). Then someone fires by accident, or nerves, or even a faulty gun. Then that is interpreted as "the signal" and everyone starts firing. The French would have had to get their guns, powder and ball, load and start firing. By that time, the Brits would have gotten off a number of volleys. No wonder they won. Notice that the French had no one wounded. Usually there are 3 wounded for 1 killed. This simply means that the Native allies killed and scalped the wounded. And Jumonville was killed by Tanaghrisson while he was reading the diplomatic message from the French to Washington, the same sort of thing that Washington did at the French Fort the previous December. No wonder the French wanted revenge.
