Oh I am with you there Anthony...Neil Simon - what a genius! The Goodbye Girl would be right up there in my list of favourite movies, if only to watch Richard Dreyfus playing Richard III as a camp hunchback with a club foot and bad dress sense!

Okay, opinion time. Dreyfus howls something like: "He wants me to play the second stongest character in the history of English theater like a double order of California fruit salad!" So who's number 1?

Ooooo, good question! My first guess would be, sticking with Shakespeare...Henry V. But I might have to think further on that one!

Speaking of HOW THE WEST WAS WON, if anyone lives in Southern California (or is thinking of taking a trip there), in February the Arclight Theater (the Cinerama Dome) in Hollywood is going to be showing a three strip Cinerama print of HTWWW, using three projectors, the way the film was meant to be shown. I don't know the exact dates, but if you are interested, the Arclight has a website.

LOL! This is just too funny!
I am originally from the West Coast... born in L.A., raised in Oregon. One of the things my grandparents would do when we went back down to L.A. to visit them, was to take the whole family to Cinerama. Besides the original "This Is Cinerama" feature (during which I got sick to my stomach on an extremely realistic "Rollercoaster Ride" )... we also saw the newly-released How The West Was Won... in Cinerama... at that very theater! Wow! Loved it then, and still love it even on TV. Jimmie Stewart in buckskins... drool.
You cannot imagine what it was like to see that brand-new-state-of-the-art technology! To a young teen in the 60s... it was utterly amazing!
Hmmm... I'm imagining how LOTM would look in Cinerama... Ciao! |

Aw, man. Closest I've been to CA is Denver. That would be so awesome to see.

My favorite movie was,"Trapped in Silence",staring Kiefer Sutherland,Marsha Mason and Me.That's right,Me!I appeared for about 4.2 seconds and got to beat up Kiefer.Ok,the movie stunk,we got no awards,Marsha wore too much make-up,but I got 50 bucks for my talent, lol.Oh, also got free lunch and supper. Can't believe how much Kiefer has grown. He was only 18 when I got to bend his leg over his head with the help of two stuntman.Reason being because he was attacking Marsha Mason.Couldn't let her make-up get all messed up.That's all from Hollywood! |

Old thread but what the heck, nice to ressurect them.
My current favorite film is defintiely the new "3.10 to Yuma". Must have watched it at least 10 times already. At least once a week I watch it. It has the "perfect cast" IMO and some great lines and the best western villan in Charlie Prince who says most of the best lines. If you have not seen it I highly recommend it to all. Also has a brilliant soundtrack which I bought and listen to all the time. Wonderful musical score by Marco Beltrami. |

LLOF favorite movies. Well that seems to change by the years.
Currently and to avoid being killed. LOTM Pride and Prejudice *new version* Romeo and Juliet *about all the versions* X-Men Ever After The Other Boleyn Girl *however inaccurate* Pirates of the Caribbean *just about all of them* Anything with Alan Rickman *well that I can get my hands on* aka Sense and Sensibility, Harry Potter.... Shall stop there before my mind runs away with me.
*contemplates a favorite TV Show thread. |

Interestingly, though I made a post in this thread all of those years ago, I didn't answer the question.
There are so many choices and so many that I really love, so I have to narrow it down by thinking about the ones I tend to rewatch the most. So, I think they would have to be:
1. Last of the Mohicans 2. Pride & Prejudice (both the BBC and the Keira Knightley versions) 3. Dances With Wolves
plus oh so many others...
Gettysburg, Open Range, Drums Along the Mohawk, South Pacific, King Arthur, Dirty Dancing (yes, I admit it), Donovan's Reef, Murphy's Romance, Romancing The Stone, The Crossing... the list goes on and on. |

Well, I finally saw 3:10 to Yuma, it's about time!! Great movie! I'm not a big fan of Russell Crowe but he did a good job with this character. As for Christian Bale, hunk! Over all, great story line and lots of action! |
