Texas Rangers Apologize For Trash Surrounding Memorial Statue Honoring Fan's Death
The Texas Rangers apologized on the team's official Twitter account on Monday night for trash that accumulated around the memorial statue outside Rangers Ballpark. The statue represents Shannon Stone, who died during a game in 2011 when he fell from the stands while reaching for a ball.

Sarge's Assessment: This story is a microcosm of our societal decline, but in more ways than is obvious to the casual reader. Firstly, it is not exactly a 'newsflash' that people act foolish & ignorant in large groups, particularly sports fans attending an event. Secondly, the fact that a statue was 'dedicated' to the memory of a person who died performing stupid human tricks, is the most disturbing item in this article.
Our society has deteriorated to the point where participation-trophies for marginal kids, has now evolved into statues for people winning the 'Darwin Award' for most asinine death.
...And the death-spiral continues

I agree MG, but there was probably a trash receptacle just outside of camera-shot. Of course, if such a container was present, then you would have to hope that the SEIU union thugs would care enough to empty it at regular intervals 
That being said, the main thorn in my side is the statue itself. As I alluded to above, it is beyond logic that a monument would be erected to the memory of someone who died behaving so stupidly. This would be akin to giving 'Willie The Wino' a memorial plaque where he was run-over by a Port Authority bus, because he was too silly, ignorant, and/or drunk to look both ways before crossing the street.
