While I find most team sports involving a ball pointless (unless I am participating), I feel that soccer has to be the least interesting. Any team sport that deliberately avoids body contact/conflict, is truly a boring pursuit indeed.

| Back in the Stone Age I played semi-pro hockey as a goal tender (late 50's to mid 60'S) always enjoyed it - Football, well I'm a Pats fan (big time) and a mod on one of their boards - so I'm a tad prejudiced on that. - Baseball & basketball put me to sleep in less than five minutes - soccer is too low on the scale to actually rate. If it or say golf or tennis comes on - well, that's why the good Lord invented the channel zapper. |

Coulter lists nine offenses against the sport, including its lack of “individual glory”, the fact that girls can play the game with boys (which makes it popular with “liberal soccer moms”) and the fact that it is "foreign"

And while soccer may be particularly popular among certain constituencies, a January YouGov poll found that the National Football League is even more popular among those same groups: 46% of liberals, 51% of Hispanics, and 43% of people in the West follow the NFL somewhat or very closely. |

You know MG, I've been hearing this "soccer is going to be the next big thing in the U.S." crap since I was a teenager (and that was a loooong time ago), and it hasn't gained any more traction than the other 'wishes & desires' of the marginal folks in our society
