I've recently started reading Zane Grey novels and am looking for recommendations. So far they have all been excellent but there are so many to choose from it's hard to know where to go next. Any favorites or directions to point me in?

I haven't read any of Zane Grey's books myself, but my dad likes Riders of the Purple Sage and its sequel, The Rainbow Trail. I guess Riders is a pretty standard recommendation, though, seeing as it was Grey's most popular novel.

I recently ordered a copy of JFC's The Spy, based on your earlier recommendation, Susquesus. I'm planning to start it after I find out how Natty Bumppo ends in The Prairie.

Thanks Red- I will put them at the top. I have about a dozen that I got from my grandpa but these 2 are not among them.
I think you will like "The Spy". I am never disappointed with Cooper. Sometimes it takes a few chapters but pretty soon I am hooked.
Thanks for the tip!

Yo, Seamus, weigh in here . . . . I know Seamus recently liked one of Zane Grey's books that he read not too long ago. I'm thinking it was "The Spirit of the Border," but I'm not certain. Whichever it was, I tried it, immediately began worrying about the fate of the white dog, and gave up -- so, it's the one with the white dog.

"Betty Zane" about Ohio Valley

"Spirit of the Border" Ohio Valley; Sequel to Betty Zane: A really GOOD read! As a matter of fact, all Grey's books are good.

Here is a list of them all:
