Being a bit of a history buff, - especially when the eastern part of the country was "the frontier" etc. - French & Indian War era in general - I made my annual visit to Fort No. 4 today. - One great day - but it always is. - Today at the Fort was a bit of a surprise, - it was "Home Schoolers Day" and quite a number of parents & their children where there. They came from the local area in general, but also Vermont & some from Mass. - a pretty good trip. - One thing stood out, - the kids as a group were VERY well behaved, (not saints) but a refreshing change. - Another thing, except for two women, - there were NO "walking whales" among the parents, all looked just great. - What's the difference here? - Less government determining acceptable behavior, and instead FAR MORE parental involvement in their children's upbringing.

HUZZAH! On all counts!
Meant to mention earlier that I saw Sarge at Fort Ligonier last weekend. He and his men were billeted in the officers' cabin next to ours. |

Good to hear you (and the Sarge of course) were at Fort Ligonier, - winter is coming on, ... ;)

Always kinda tempting, ... they have this every year & the atmosphere and food (I'm sure) have to be great. The "grand hall" has about 300 overheard candles on circular racks hung from heavy beams etc. ... There's a picture of it in the link. Heating is another matter - but I'm sure it's been taken care of.
