: The climatic cliff battle has always been rather disappointing to me. Throughout the movie, we see Uncas to be an able quick fighter and then he is sooo outmatched by Magua. I think it would have played better if Uncas got in a few shots before going down. Granted, he was probably a bit worn out from the climb and whacking through a line of Hurons to get to Magua. But still, he was so determined, I think he would have fought better.

Joy, I think this is a very interesting observation, and on consideration, I agree with you. I would have liked Uncas to land at least one good blow/slash/shot/punch/kick/bite/pinch ...SOMETHING...on Magua before being dispatched to the council fire of his people.

If I recall correctly, Nathaniel and Cora were almost out of the village - the Hurons were ignoring them because they were too pumped about roasting poor Duncan. I would think that Ching would have followed his son to help him out. Any thoughts??

Well, Chingachgook & Hawkeye DID race after him, but you bring up a good point...how come they ended up so FAR behind him? Did he use some secret shortcut? And if so, why didn't dad/bro use it, too? Now I'm gonna wonder what took them so long!! Where is Le Longue Carabine when you need him??? (A question I've asked MYSELF many times over the last few years...hehehe!)
