Sent this message to all on our 2004 Gathering information mailing list the other day - include it here now for all the rest of you out there:
A few short weeks from now and we'll be making a major decision as to our scheduled appearance of Russell Means at the 2004 Gathering.
Presently, over $200 of money pledged has not arrived - if it does, we're well over $1500, but still very short of our projected needs. We might be able to scrounge up their lodging costs from the Gathering Surcharge funds - maybe.
Time to act on this is right now, folks - if you are going to at all.
At the Coins For Chingachgook page - http://www.mohicanpress.com/2004_gathering_guest.html - we have added still another option: donations from $5 up garner you a free gift.
Remember, 3 payment methods - PayPal, Credit Card, or Check/MO. It's too late to pledge, at this time, we need the funds so that a flight can be booked. Again, March 1 is our deadline.
Make it happen!
It has, so far, produced some results, but more is still needed. We've got a small committee working on finding economical flights, and Pearl Means has already offered to fly coach to assist in saving some money.
To recap: You can purchase raffle tickets at $50 for the first; $25 for each additional. This is really, in not-so-clever disguise, a donation, but you are in the drawing for the gifts mentioned in the above link. Then, courtesy of one Mohicanlander who prefers to be known as the Gathering Committee, for true donations of less than $50 a free gift will be awarded - a nice one, the first of which was mailed out yesterday to Belinda Starnes of Missouri. THANK YOU, BELINDA! The exact gift is dependant on the donated amount.

 UPDATE! The Coins For Chingachgook project has met with success!
As of the moment - direct from the source - there are no imminent conflicts to prevent Russell & Pearl Means from attending the 2004 Mohican Gathering.
Better yet, we have barely eecked out the plane fare portion of the necessary funds and, the flights are now officially booked!!
Nancy M. [Dances With Beagles] is another outright donator. Thank you!
In addition, some other people deserve mention for salvaging what was looking like a dismal prospect:- Phil Stangler, who came along at just the right moment, bringing a necessary quantity of enthusiasm backed with action, to literally save the day.
- Our one-person Gathering "Committee," who selflessly offered up gifts to those who donated.
- Diana S. & Ros, both of whom greatly assisted.
- Special mention - sorry to embarrass - to Ilse Maan & Jo Tishler for their very generous monetary contributions to the cause.
- All the rest of the Gatherers who purchased raffle tickets.

Remember! It ain't over yet. We still need to cover their lodging & other incidental expenses, so donations & raffle ticket purchases are still welcomed, not to mention, needed! Those of you who still "owe" pledges, we are counting on you. Let's not back off just yet. The money is already laid out!
