I figured that DDL was 'in-character' during the production, since he has struck as one of those brooding character actors, very much like Christian Bale. That is why I was surprised to learn that DDL had a reputation for being a prankster, since most character actors can be unpleasant to be around during the production.

(Note: I've worked more than a few movies as both a law enforcement officer and as an executive protection specialist)

As for the military advisor, Dale Dye, I wonder if anyone was aware of the fact that he didn't know the first thing about 18th Century British military drill, until after he got the job for the movie...

That was very obvious, and he never did learn anything about the French.

I wasn't aware that a "military advisor" was brought in, kind of a surprise. - His background/history seemed centered along "troop training" & some survival stuff - not military tactics from a different era.

Some footage of the troupes being drilled.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tsbg1NtWuU0

I have to wonder about the guy with the 1840's wheel hat. You see these guys at places like Cowpens. They show up at a Rev War event with a Civil War hat on. Why? They must say, "I am going to an event so I will show everybody that I have some stuff too."

That was interesting Fitz - thx. - It's amazing how much effort (and money) goes into making a good film ... Those "troops" were looking pretty damn good there, with everyone snapping to at the same time during those drills. BTW - it also looked kinda hot there ...
