Microsoft Security Essentials - low impact antivirus

Windows Live Essentials 2011 - new versions of Microsoft's messenger, blogging, photo, etc. software

Worldwide Telescope - cool astronomy software from Microsoft Research

Stuff to download and fool around with on some rainy day ... also, upgrades your 'puter.

Windows keeps trying to get me to download version 9 every time I sign on to the internet, but I fear change . . . at least when it comes to my browser. The constant changes on Facebook, for instance, drive me nuts! But I suppose I'll have to update at some point. Thanks for the links.

That's one of the reasons why I use Firefox for my browser. It updates automatically, as needed, and doesn't hound me to death about it. It's updates have never caused a problem.
